Domestic violence: We need to talk about it.
The clothing installation featuring the delicate purple dress of the well-known and admired author Simona Monyová was hung in the Parliament of the Czech Republic in the center of Prague.
Member of Parliament Mr. Michael Chona said: “As a progressive and pluralistic society, we must declare again and again that domestic violence is a crime, a terrible mistake, a moral and social corruption that must be completely eliminated“.
Simona Monyová published more than 34 books, most of which have been translated into many languages and adapted into feature films. She did not dare to reveal that she was a victim of violence, and only between the lines of her books did Simona plant hints about what she experienced with her partner. After her murder, the number of women looking for help increased by hundreds of percent.
Many thanks to the Israeli Embassy for the assistance and partnership, together with the national organization “Women for Women Czech”.
We would also like to thank:
Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marketa Pekarova Adamova and Member of Parliament Michal Zuna for auspices and premises.
